The Louvre, From Supply Depot To Art Museum

The Louvre is generally regarded as the premiere art museum in France. With a collection of about 35,000 items contained in 652,300 square feet, it’s not hard to understand why. Why would you go anywhere else when every piece of art and antiquity you could ever want to see are contained in one place? But the Louvre is obviously not the only art museum in France. Several decidedly smaller art museums in France house collections comprehensive enough to rival the Louvre.

These lesser known but equally compelling museums include the Muse de l’Orangerie, the Muse d’Art Moderne de la Vile de Paris, even a geographically confused Palais de Tokyo – the list goes on. One particularly successful museum is the Muse d’Orsay. The Muse’s collection’s scope is admirable and covers several centuries of European visual and decorative art.

The history of this particular museum is long and illustrious. The Muse d’Orsay used to be a railway station, Gare d’Orsay. This railway station was built specifically for the glorious 1900 Exposition Universelle. This exposition was a World’s Fair held in Paris, and featured the rededication of the Eiffel Tower, which had been created for the previous World’s Fair. The Gare (“gare” means railway station in French) was elaborately constructed in the fashionable Art Nouveau style.

The design was the pride of the three architects who created it; Lucien Magne, Victor Laloux, and mile Bnard were top designers at the time. The vaulted ceilings of the Gare were made of tiny interlocking panes of glass, and intricate stone carvings paneled the walls. The sizable Gare, carefully crafted out of innumerable tan stones, overlooked the glistening Seine River.

For the time of the World’s Fair and up until WWII, the Gare . The Nazis appropriated the now-dingy railway station for transporting munitions, soldiers, and even looted possessions from European citizens. After the fall of the Third Reich, the Gare fell into further disrepair. The unstable economy of France prevented the Gare from getting the restoration it needed until the early 1970s. By that time, the station wasn’t large enough to adequately support a large amount of train commuter traffic. For a few years it was used as a hotel until in 1977. Because of faltering profits and public pressure, it was decided to convert the Gare into a museum. The conversion was complete in 1986 and was dedicated by then-president Franois Mitterrand.

Today, the Muse is home to an impressive collection of mainly French art. It is now well known for its broad selection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, of which it has the largest collection in the world, and is no longer a railway station. These include renowned artists such as Paul Czanne, Gustave Caillebotte, Mary Cassatt, Gustave Courbet, Paul Gaugin, and Vincent van Gogh, The list is endless.

There are even eighty-six Monet paintings in the Muse’s catalog. It also holds decent architecture and photography exhibits. While there are several larger Muses in France, the Muse D’Orsay should definitely be a priority for anyone going on vacation in France.

Concussion Protection For Mixed Martial Arts & Judo

Mixed Martial Arts is a dangerous sport; many fighters end up with serious brain and head injuries if they are not using the proper Concussion Protection. Mouth guards are an essential protection item for Mixed Martial Arts fighter and while most mouthpieces will only protect directly the upper jaw, fighters agree; a solid and strong mouth guard protecting the upper and lower jaw decreases the risk of head injuries, helps keeping the eyes open even during impact and minimizes the chances of getting knocked out during combat.

The WPR-300 High Performance mouth guard from Brain-Pad, for example, is a revolutionary Concussion Protection specifically designed for Mixed Martial Arts fighters. This specific mouthpiece protects efficiently the lower jaw and the upper jaw while allowing for better breathing it also absorbs blows otherwise destined for the skull or the head. Many world-renowned Mixed Martial Arts fighters have been openly advertising wearing similar mouth guards; Cung Le, Frank Shamrock, Jerome LeBanner, Jorge Rivera and Mat Horwich have all agreed that the protection offered by a type of mouthpiece like the WPR-300 is far superior to an upper-mouth only protection.

To avoid any serious head injuries related to concussive blows, it is important to wear the proper type of mouth guard when practicing Mixed Martial Arts. Effective Concussion Protection will give fighters a chance to breathe properly, to increase their chances of winning a fight instead of getting knocked out and to lengthen their career by minimizing potential injuries.

It might be a bit puzzling at times to try and find the right Concussion Protection for Judo. The ultimate goal is to find a mouth guard, or mouthpiece, that will protect you from possible head trauma and reduce the risks for brain injuries. The main feature in Judo is the competitive feature the object is to throw the opponent on the ground, by immobilize him or otherwise subdue the opponent during the combat. Such practice needs good protection; the ideal Concussion Protection for Judo will be something like the Brain Pad 3XS.

The 3XS is designed especially for athletes practicing high-impact sports. It is conceived especially to help absorb the impact of concussive blows to the base of the skull. It protects both the upper and lower jaw, which is a rare feature for any type of mouth guards but can greatly make a difference in the level of comfort of an athlete. It features high impact gel-pad inserts, extended wrap-around outer bumper and tapered channel ends to offer the maximum level of comfort, protect against impacts and blows and allow for maximum breathing through the windows at the front, unlike many other mouth guards used for Judo.

For any Judo athlete, Concussion Protection is a main concern and should not be addressed lightly. Finding the right Concussion Protection for Judo is essential head injuries can be traumatic experience and leave your brain damaged. Kung fu martial arts, Kung fu master info – Enlai Zhou

This article is about the kung fu martial arts and you can find some useful information in it if you are a fan of the kung fu martial arts.

Enlai Zhou is the first prime minister of P.R.China. Every Chinese people knows that he is a handsome gentleman and is very nice to other people. But I found a big surprise about this famous prime minister of China. Enlai Zhou was the minister of the Central Military Commission and the leader of Central Special Department (like the CIA of U.S.). He was acting as a military officer, not a civil officer for a long time. After the establishment of P.R.China (in 1949), he became the first prime minster. Lots of people knows that he only sleeps for 3 or 4 hours a day, but still in a very good physical condition every day. Actually, what makes him so special is the Chinese kung fu martial arts.

Enlai Zhou is like a kung fu master in the Chinese Communist Party. His kung fu martial arts supervisor is the famous Zuanxia Han. Mr Han is the Number 1 kung fu master in the notable Chinese kung fu movie – Wulinzhi (means “history of the Chinese kung fu martial arts” in Chinese language). He is as famous as Yuanjia Huo (Jet Li’s movie Fearless is about him) in the history of China. When Enlai Zhou was studying in the Nankai University, Tianjin, China( 1913 – 1917 ), he was interesting in both the Communism theories and the kung fu martial arts. Zuanxia Han was running a kung fu martial arts center in Tianjin during this period of time and Enlai Zhou learned this first kung fu martial arts course here. What Zuanxia Han is good at is the famous “Xingyi Bagua” kung fu, he defeated a lot of kung fu martial arts fighters using this “Xingyi Bagua” kung fu. He even killed a big Russian fighter in the boxing ring and this event made him very famous in China.

In the famous Whampoa Military Academy, Enlai Zhou was the minister of the General Political Department. He invited Zuanxia Han to be the chief kung fu martial arts supervisor of this military academy. When they met again there, Mr Han continued to teach Enlai Zhou the kung fu martial arts. In this school, Enlai Zhou learned a lot about the “Xingyi Bagua” kung fu martial arts from Zuanxia Han. Mr Han learned a lot from Enlai Zhou too. “Enlai Zhou is ambitious and aspiring youth. I teach him the knowledge of the kung fu martial arts and he teaches me how to be a honest and upstanding man.” Mr Han said.

One thing I found very interesting is that Enlai Zhou established the Central Special Department (like the CIA of U.S.). In this mysterious department of the Chinese Communist Party, he was acting as the supervisor for all the secret-service agents. His good knowledge of the kung fu martial arts helped him a lot in this special position. ( the tasks of the Central Special Department are: ensure the security of the leaders of the Chinese Communist Party, collect secret information, kill the traitors, rescue the prisoners from the enemy, establish the secret radio stations )

Enlai Zhou is both the kung fu martial arts teacher and the kung fu master in this special department. He rescued the prisoners for several times and executed traitors like: Jiaxing He, Bingshi Dai, Xing Bai. He even helped the Chinese Communist Party to kill the Kuomintang’s secret-service agents – Bing Wang and Shaowu Ma. Because of these, Enlai Zhou was called “Wu Hao” ( means “kung fu martial arts” and “high aspirations” in Chinese language ) during this period of time. All his special actions are named “Sword of Wu Hao”. He is such a good kung fu master and even the leader of the Kuomintang’s secret-service agents said this: “If we caught Enlai Zhou, the whole Chinese Communist Party will collapse.”

Things You Must Do To Grow Your Martial Arts School

There are 3 things you must do every week – and sometimes every day in every class – to make sure your martial arts school thrives. Those 3 things are:

Bring in new students
Retain the students you have
Get more from your students

It is critical to the survival of your school that you block off time every week to focus on these 3 things. This might be 1 hour or 1 day. It might be to create a new class, new marketing program or for education in martial arts management to make sure you are growing as a martial arts school owner.

Marketing
You should be setting aside time every week to work on growing your school. This does not mean you have to create a brand new marketing plan every week. One week each month you can focus on education. Just like learning martial arts – you are constantly learning new things, right?

The same applies to marketing. Pick up a book, read a blog, read the business section of the newspaper. You have to learn the basics and continue to learn and grow in marketing as well.

Student Retention
Student retention is vital to any martial arts school. If you get 3 new students but 4 leave then you have not just gone back by a count of 1 youve actually gone back by 4 because had you retained those students you would now have a total of 7 students.

Each week you should be doing things to ensure your students are going to stay in your program as long as possible. This could be sending out birthday cards, writing a school newsletter, offering special workshops, learning more about the student and their family to build a stronger relationship, the list is almost endless.

Internal Marketing
The last item, internal marketing, is one that is often forgotten. Yet it is critically important.

What most small business owners, and most martial arts school owners, fail to understand is that it takes a whole lot more effort and money to find a new client then it does to sell again to an existing client.

To get a new student you must spend a lot of time and money finding them and convincing them that your school is what they are looking for and need.

It takes much less time and money to sell your current students on a Saturday workshop, or sell them a T-shirt, or get them to take private lessons.

You Are Not Alone
You do not have to take on these tasks all by yourself. There are many places you can get information to cut down your learning curve or save time and money by using existing materials.

You can get books on marketing, you can ask other martial arts school owners what they do, you can join online forums in places like LinkedIn, or fan pages on FaceBook, you can purchase materials from martial arts business or management companies.

International Martial Arts Management Systems, (IMAMS) is one such place. We offer a system that is created of training modules that consistently brings in 4, 5, maybe 10 students every month. We have modules for student retention and many many ways to help you with internal marketing.
